Parks McAllister is an alternative process artist focusing on open

landscapes and identity.

The intimacy of his work is heightened by mindful use of

his processes often beginning with pinhole negatives,

printed as cyanotypes, and using the Sabattier effect. His

photographs hold more emotion due to the allowance of fingerprints

and other imperfections.

McAllister's main source of inspiration draws from open

landscapes, as well as the different ways people identify. He began

experimental photography with a singular light in his bedroom making

self portraits and was enamored with the many ways he could alter his

own figure using only light and movement. This created a safe

environment for conversations with himself about his own identity.

Through his work he has found a sense of freedom.
